IV. Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Warm-up (5 minutes)
Activity: Greeting and Review

- “What color is your bag?”
Teacher says:
“Good morning, class! How are you today? Can you tell me your name and age?”
Students respond.
Step 2: Introduction of New Vocabulary (10 minutes)
Activity: Picture and Word Matching
- Show flashcards with pictures of family members.
- Introduce new words one by one with clear pronunciation.
- Students repeat after the teacher.
Teacher says:
“This is my father. This is my mother. This is my brother. This is my sister. This is my grandfather. This is my grandmother.”
Students repeat.
Game: Guess Who?
The teacher shows a picture of a family member and asks students to guess who it is.
Step 3: Listening Practice (10 minutes)
Activity: Listen and Answer
- Play an audio recording of a short dialogue between two people talking about their families.
- After listening, ask students questions like:
- “Who is this?”
- “What is his job?”
- “Is she his sister?”
Example Dialogue:
A: This is my father.
B: Is he a teacher?
A: Yes, he is.
Students answer the questions.
Step 4: Speaking Practice (10 minutes)
Activity: Talk About Your Family
- Students work in pairs. Each student introduces their family members using the sentence patterns.
- Example:
“This is my father. He is a doctor.”
“This is my sister. She is five years old.”
Teacher walks around to help and correct pronunciation.
Step 5: Consolidation and Homework (5 minutes)
Activity: Draw and Describe
- Students draw a picture of their family and write a short description using the new vocabulary.
Homework:
- Write a short paragraph about your family.
- Practice saying the new words with your parents.
